A pastoral bovine yodeler

Listen to Ruth Bentler solos during the IHAFF serenade - mp3 - opens new window
As a young girl in Iowa, Ruthie Bentler knew that music, like corn, was in her blood. At an early age she excelled in several musical areas, including piano playing, singing, and perhaps most of all, yodeling in the pastoral hills of her Iowa homestead. Her yodeling talents led her to pursue her musical interests at the University of Iowa, and eventually steered her to a career in audiology. These same talents also gained her wide spread recognition among her Fort Dodge high school classmates, as well as a passing relationship with neighborhood stray holsteins, coyotes, and two or three curious barn owls. Like many Iowa girls, she never took her musical talents to the next level, but did pass on her abilities to her four children who have made Bentler music well known across the U.S.
Dr. Ruth Bentler is Professor of Audiology at the University of Iowa. She is internationally known for her research and publications in the area of modern hearing aid technology.
